Results of the changes may be monitored as often as bi-weekly in severely ill patients or less often for those that just want to monitor changes to their health. The practitioner gets a report card on both himself and the patient. If the patient has been compliant with the instructions, the results will be beneficial. Non-compliance on the part of the patient will show as well. In addition, the practitioner can monitor the result of his recommendations and adjust to optimize results. It is enlightening for the patient to be able to see his/her progress on paper.

What Might the BioMeridian System Discover? Biomeridian testing is a noninvasive method used to assess the energy meridians (channels) of the body, and it can tell you:

• The functional status of your meridians and their related organs, systems, or functions, by determining if they are stressed, balanced, or weakened, and by how much.

The examination is performed by testing approximately 60 different points on both hands and feet which relate back to the energy channels and their related organs, systems, or functions. This testing does not involve needles, only a stylus is used to send a very small electrical current (not a shock) through each point, which is recorded and analyzed by the computer system. Be prepared to sit for 30 min up to an hour during this detailed examination, so wear comfortable clothing and relax. It is advised that you wash your hands and feet prior to the exam and drink plenty of water before your appointment.

The cost for the initial exam and report is included in our new patient visit fee of $187 and will be take one hour and thirty minutes. Your second follow up visit is FREE.Any follow-up testing which includes the same full work-up and report is $57. This does not include any nutritional products or supplemments you may need to purchase. All payment is expected at the time of service. Most Insurance will not cover this expense. HOW MANY TIMES WILL I HAVE TO BE RE-TESTED? It is recommended that you return every 1-2 months, depending on your needs, until balance has been fully restored to all of your energy meridians. How long this will take depends on how far out of balance you are at the time of the initial exam, your compliance with the nutritional regimen recommended for you, and what your personal functional health goals are.

When you are being tested, what you see before you on the computer screen, is a line depicting the energy of each of your points. Simultaneously you hear a sound that signifies a correct reading. The BioMeridian scan helps identify the optimal nutritional/homeopathic protocol for healing and energy management. It determines the energetic level of each organ/system in the body and how well it is functioning. The meridian screening determines the energy levels of each organ/system in the body followed by the process of restoring balance to those organs/systems. Testing
The BioMeridian is system which performs electro-dermal screening. This screening assesses the acupuncture meridians of the body and thereby gives a general picture of the function of organs and structures located along those meridians. The BioMeridian test provides a means of measuring the energetic profiles of organs, glands, immune system organs, the musculoskeletal system and allergies to name a few. It uses passive electrical energy, like that of an ECG (electrocardiogram) or EEG (electroencephalogram) to take its readings. Once a reading is taken for each point it is stored in a computer. When all desired points have been tested, the computer will compile a report for analysis. Readings for each point range from 0 to 100. Readings above 55 (which appear yellow) show excessive energy and suggest inflammation or sensitivity. Readings below 47 (red) demonstrate reduced energy, weakness or a chronic condition or organ degeneration. The meridian is balanced when the reading is between 47 and 55 (green). One of the benefits of the technology is that it will frequently detect problems before they would show up on other tests. That’s because energy is one of the first things to be affected as a person moves away from balanced health. Accurate and professional interpretations of the results of the test are crucial as they help determine a treatment plan for you. Treatment plans may include dietary and/or lifestyle changes, vitamins, minerals, homeopathics, botanicals, detoxification programs, etc. To prepare for this test we ask that you refrain from using hand or foot creams and that you remove any magnets and cell phones from your person. There are no needles or puncturing of the skin involved in this test. BioMeridian testing is not a medical procedure and we are not attempting to diagnose disease.

Allergy/Sensitivity/Intolerance Testing
The BioMeridian contains an extensive database of potential allergens including but not limited to environmental, food and chemical allergens. Using this assessment we can compare the frequency of these allergens to you as an individual. This gives us the ability to deduce if certain items may cause you sensitivities or allergens. The allergy test can be compared to that of an MRI or X-Ray in that it uses electromagnetic stimuli. Based on a study by the University of Hawaii, the BioMeridian allergy test had the highest degree of compatibility with a food re-challenge test when compared to other means of assessing allergies. A food re-challenge is where you avoid a particular food for a period of a few weeks and then reintroduce it into the diet to see if the body has a normal reaction or is sensitive or allergic. 300 double blind tests were used comparing allergy diagnostic tools to history, and the BioMeridian proved to be more accurate than skin testing (where an antigen is placed on the skin, and the skin is pricked to see whether or not a histamine response is observed) or RAST test (a test measuring specific IgE antibodies in blood serum) (Lehman, C.W.: The Leukocytic Food Allergy Test: A Study of Its Reliability and Reproducibility. Effect of Diet and Sublingual Food Drops On This Test. (Ann. Allerg., 45:150-158, 1980).

How to read your chart.

Homotoxicology is the study of human toxins. The purpose of homotoxicology is to stimulate and regulate the body’s self healing abilities resulting in the removal of homotoxins and finally leading to the elimination of illness. Homeopathic remedies are used throughout this process and are customized for each individual’s needs. ElectroDermal Screening (EDS) is a non invasive testing assessment with its primary function to provide energetic insight into the physiology, biochemistry and pathology of our patients.
There are six phases in Homotoxicology representing the phases the body uses either to eliminate toxins or deposit them in some part of the body in an attempt to maintain health.

Many functional or energy medical devices are based on the research of Dr. Reinhold Voll who established that there is a network of energy channels, called meridians, suffusing the body. Meridian points, some of which correlate to acupuncture points, can be used to collect energetic data. Different organs are associated with different energy meridians, and health problems in various organs are believed to manifest themselves as energetic disturbances in the associated meridians. Practitioners can suggest treatments and whole food supplements to bring these energetic disturbances back into balance.

Meridian Stress Assessment (MSA) is a well-known technology used in various healthcare practices to measure electrical characteristics at meridian points throughout the body. Using advanced hardware and sophisticated software, a person’s energy measurements can be recorded assessed and compared.

The MSAS-Professional patient interface unit is the world’s premier testing tool for measuring the body’s conductivity along acupoints on the skin. Using the electronic probe, the MSAS-Professional reads the energetic value at the meridian points, and transmits that signal to the computer. The software creates a graphic display for practitioners to evaluate, and for patients to view, helping them better understand the energetic readings of their body. The practitioner can then access a database of more than 40,000 natural products that may be useful for balancing your functional health.

Dr. Reinhold Voll

In the early 1950s, Reinhold Voll, a German medical doctor, developed an electronic testing device for finding acupuncture points electrically. He was successful in finding acupuncture points and demonstrating that these points, known to Chinese acupuncturists for millennia, had a different resistance to a tiny electrical current passed through the body, than did the adjacent tissues. Many other researchers have also verified that electrical conductance at the acupuncture points is significantly greater than the surrounding tissue. Voll then began a lifelong search to identify correlations between disease states and changes in the electrical resistance of the various acupuncture points. He thought that if he could identify electrical changes in certain acupuncture points associated with certain diseases, then he might be able to identify those diseases more easily, or earlier, when treatment intervention was likely to be more effective. Voll was successful in identifying many acupuncture points related to specific conditions and published a great deal of information about using acupuncture points diagnostically.4 (Until Voll, these points had been used mainly for treatment). He found, for example, that patients with lung cancer had abnormal readings on the acupuncture points referred to as lung points. Changes also occurred in the electrical conductance of the acupuncture points supplying musculoskeletal structures that are inflamed.

Voll discovered that certain acupuncture points showed abnormal readings when subjects were reacting allergically. He made several serendipitous discoveries related to "allergy" testing. He noted some unusual readings on certain acupuncture points when a patient had a bottle of medicine in his pocket. He could remove the bottle and consistently get different readings when the bottle was in his pocket compared to when it was not. At first he was baffled as to how a closed bottle of medicine outside the body could affect the acupuncture readings. It was even more baffling when he discovered that the glass bottle of medicine could change the readings when it was in contact anywhere along the closed electric circuit involved with the testing procedure. Voll and his colleagues then began work to identify the nature of this strange phenomena. They inserted a metal plate into the circuit and demonstrated that many substances that prelude changes in acupuncture point readings when ingested could produce the same changes when placed on the plate (even in closed glass bottles). They assumed that there must be some kind of electro-magnetic energy being emitted from the substances, and that these energy fields somehow traveled along the electric circuit to the body (perhaps like the energy waves representing a person's voice travels along the electric circuitry of a telephone line).

What is Nutrition Response Testing?
Nutrition Response Testing is very precise and scientific. However, if I were to analyze you using Nutrition Response Testing before it was explained to you, you might find it strange, or simply not believable - only because it is probably very different from anything you may have experienced before.
I can completely understand that, When I first saw this type of work being done, my first reaction was “Hmm, what is this strange stuff?” No one was more skeptical than I was. As a result, I studied Nutrition Response Testing extensively to see if it was for real. And I am sure happy I did because it has helped me improve my health, and because of Nutrition Response Testing, we are able to help you improve your health.
Quite frankly, if you want to get healthy and stay healthy, it is important that you understand what Nutrition Response Testing is, and what our recommendations are based on.

If I were to hook you up to an electrocardiograph machine and take a reading, that would make perfect sense to you, right?
What is actually happening during this procedure? Electrical energy form the heart is running over the wires. This electrical energy makes the electrocardiograph record the energy pattern in the form of a graph or chart. I could then study this graph and tell you what it all means.
Here is what we do with Nutrition Response Testing. Instead of connecting electrodes to the specific points being tested, the Nutrition Response Testing doctor contacts these points with his/her own hand. With his other hand, he/she will test the muscle strength of your extended arm. If the reflex being contacted is active, the nervous system will respond by reducing energy to the extended arm, and the arm will weaken and drop. This drop signifies underlying dysfunction, which can be affecting your health.
