Climbing mountains is something my husband and I love to do. If you have ever seen the movie Finding Nemo, you know the part "keep on swimming, keep on swimming". I use this when we climb mountains, except I change the words and I say "keep on climbing, keep on climbing". When we climb, there are many big rocks to climb over that can be challenging, but once I am over them I am closer to the top. This week I was in a situation that caused me some stress, and more than normal every person I talked to seemed to be in one too.
A few days ago I left a meeting, and the last words I said was "I will have a solution" The problem is we want to not have any problems. When we have battles we have to ask , is this a rock I need to deal with or just go around. It depends on the problem but we need to remember to ask "Do I need to find a situation, or is not dealing with it the solution? Is this a fight I need to spend energy on, or should I use my energy to keep climbing to the top? Many problems in life, are just battles that we do not need to engage in. When we get caught up in rock slides that we don't need to climb its a waste of our energy. If you have ever tried to climb up a hill in lose rock you know what I am talking about. You take a step up and slide back a few feet, its like one step forward and two steps back. This is what fights do to us if they are not worth fighting, they take us a few steps back from our victory, our top. Are you engaged in a battle that is not worth fighting? Do you need to save energy to solve real problems that are important? When I climb a mountain I always look at the summit, I keep it in my vision the whole trip. Life is the same, we have to keep our dreams in front of us, keep our summits on our minds.
If someone is giving you a fight, its sometimes much better to avoid it.
Not everyone is going to like us, I heard a quote once that said:
25% of people won't ever like you,
25% won't like you, but could be persuaded to,
25 % will like you, but could be persuaded not to.
and only 25% of people will really like you.
Don't waste your time trying to get involved in battles that do not matter. Do not climb over rock, you can find a trail around. Let go of people that find fault and get jealous, Stay with the people that celebrate you. Some people just like to fight. When someone is talking about us, instead of getting upset just remember to say " I know God hears them, and will do as promised, and I will be blessed double." If someone is trying to make you look bad, thank they they are doing you a favor! Be like David, fight your giant and know you will win. The more your enemies talk, the more you will be blessed. Say "I don't have time to deal, I have a mountain to climb". I tell you what I tell myself- Stay focused - We don't need to get in battles that do not matter.
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor.
I am a problem solver and when problems comes I know that I will solve it, I know God has a plan. The key is we have to decide what to spend on energy fighting and what we need to avoid.
Sometimes battles need solved and sometimes battles are solved by just going around them.
This week, I said " I am going through things I don't understand, but I know that God has a plan". I decided to let go, and keep on climbing my mountain. We can't let people or problems pull us off our mountains into the mud swamps. If you were to lose your job, for example, that we see as a problem. But if you make a new plan you see you have the freedom of looking toward the future. A problem is not who we are it just one step in climbing to the top of the mountain. Everyday we have rocks to climb over but if you find a solution over or around it you will keep on climbing toward your future. If you let it stop you, you have to turn around or you stay in the same place.
I'm going to keep being a problem solver. I am going to keep on climbing !
